Verify authenticity
A Sigil is the identity PlugZ issues to a physical item when it is registered for authentication. Enter a Sigil ID to read that item's registry record — no account needed.
How it works
Each registered item gets its own Sigil ID, generated by PlugZ and starting with sig_. Enter it here, or open a certificate link that already carries it (/verify?id=sig_…), and we read the record live from the PlugZ authenticity registry.
Anchors and ownership
A Sigil is written to the PlugZ registry the moment it is created. Anchoring those records to the PlugZ chain is being enabled in stages, so a record can read “Not anchored yet” and still be a real, registered item. The provenance trail lists only ownership transfers that were actually anchored — it is empty when there are none.
What a record shows
- The Sigil ID and the SKU (model) it was issued against.
- Its current status — minting, authenticated and held by the seller, in verification, transfer to buyer pending, owned by a buyer, or in self-custody.
- Whether the record carries an on-chain commitment reference, and that reference when it does.
- The mint event that created the record, when it was created, and when it last changed.
- The ownership transfers anchored on the PlugZ chain, oldest first, each with its anchor reference and date.
Where to find a Sigil ID
The Sigil ID appears on the certificate link shared with the item. If you have the item in hand and it carries an NFC tag, tapping it opens the same certificate.
What it never shows
A record never identifies the owner — only the item's own history. An owner can set a Sigil to private; a private Sigil returns no public record, the same response as an ID that does not exist.
This lookup reads the PlugZ authenticity registry. It reports what PlugZ recorded for a Sigil ID; it is not a scan of the object in front of you.
